Wüstenrot & Württembergische AG (W&W) was founded in 1999 uniting two long established companies; Württembergische Versicherungen and Wüstenrot Bausparkasse. The W&W Group is active in the two business sectors: home loan and savings banking and insurance services and offers the four parts of modern provision: financial security, property investment, risk protection and private wealth management.
The high level of confidence W&W enjoys with its some six million customers is based on the competences, commitment and close customer proximity of 7,000 office staff and an external sales force of 6,000 sales representatives in Germany. A wide network of business partnerships, sales agents and direct activities enables the W&W Group to reach more than 40 million people in Germany. The W&W Group is a fully established and independent financial institution with the highest number of customers in Baden Württemberg.
The Wüstenrot Bausparkasse AG is Germany’s oldest private “Bausparkasse” (Home Loan and Savings Bank). It was founded in 1921 as an “Association of Friends” in the village of Wüstenrot near Heilbronn, South Germany and first devised the principle of a home ownership savings plan enabling the general public to make the dream of home ownership a reality. Today, attractive home loan tariffs and mortgages, fast loan decision-making processes and reliable services make Wüstenrot the second largest private Home Loan and Savings Bank in Germany. Wüstenrot Bausparkasse AG has taken the place of Wüstenrot Bank AG Pfandbriefbank as the new debtor with respect to all obligations from or in connection with the German covered bonds and assumes all obligations of Wüstenrot Bank AG Pfandbriefbank from or in connection with the German covered bonds.
Since 1999 the Wüstenrot Bausparkasse AG has together with the Wüstenrot Bank AG Pfandbriefbank constituted the business unit BausparBank of the Wüstenrot & Württembergische-Group.
The Wüstenrot Bank was founded in 1968 as a special financial institute for home loans and has from the beginning supported customers at Wüstenrot in services such as the financing of property and home building. A merger in 2005 between the Wüstenrot Bank and the Wüstenrot Hypothekenbank resulted in the Wüstenrot Bank AG Pfandbriefbank, one of the first universal banks with a mortgage bond license. Today, the bank operates as an online bank and in addition to traditional home loans, offers flexible savings and investment products, stocks and investment funds to include an award winning current account service. Under the spin-off and takeover agreement dated 16/17 March 2017 and the resolutions of the general meetings of the participating legal entities of 20 March 2017, Wüstenrot Bank AG Pfandbriefbank transferred its "construction financing" operations to Wüstenrot Bausparkasse AG, domiciled in Ludwigsburg, registered in the Commercial Register of the Stuttgart district court under HRB 205323, on 19 April 2017.
Since 1999, the Wüstenrot Bank AG Pfandbriefbank and Wüstenrot Bausparkasse AG constituted the BausparBank-division of the Wüstenrot & Württembergische Group.
The well-established and in Germany renowned insurance company Württembergische Versicherung AG (WV) was founded in 1828 as the „Württembergische Privat-Feuer-Versicherungs-Gesellschaft“ (Württembergische Private-Fire-Insurance-Company). Today the company offers customised solutions for property and casualty insurance. A broad spectrum of products makes Württembergische one of Germany’s biggest property and casualty insurers.
The Württembergische Insurance Group is made up of the Württembergische Insurance Company, the Württembergische Life Insurance Company, the Württembergische Health Insurance Company, the ARA Pension Fund and the Karlsruhe Life Insurance Company. All these companies constitute the insurance division of the Wüstenrot & Württembergische Group since 1999.
The Württembergische Lebensversicherung AG (WL) was founded in 1833 under the name of “Allgemeine Rentenanstalt zu Stuttgart“ (General Pension Fund Stuttgart) and was the first company to engage in pension insurance. Today, the company offers a broad product range from the classic unit-linked life and pension insurance to the ‘Riester’ and Basis Pension Fund, professional training and occupational disability insurance, corporate pension and other financing. Thanks to this product variety and the excellent service offered, the company is one of the biggest life insurance companies in Germany. In 2005 the Württembergische Lebensversicherung AG acquired a majority stake in the Karlsruhe Life Insurance Company and completed a successful integration.
The Württembergische Versicherungsgruppe consists of the Württembergische Versicherung, the Württembergische Krankenversicherung, the ARA Pensionskasse and the Karlsruher Lebensversicherung and forms the insurance division of the W&W Group.
In 1999 the Württembergische Krankenversicherung AG commenced business in Stuttgart and completed the Group’s extensive range of products in the business field of insurance. The health insurance company offers health care and long-term care for employees and the self-employed to include comprehensive health insurance policies, international health insurance and optional tariffs for statutory insurance policy holders.
The Württembergischen Versicherung, the Württembergischen Lebensversicherung, the ARA Pensionskasse und the Karlsruher Lebensversicherung together with the Württembergische Krankenversicherung form the Württembergische Versicherungsgruppe. This insurance group constitutes the insurance division of the W&W Group since 1999.
The ARA Pension Fund AG is a subsidiary of the Württembergische Lebensversicherung AG and offers both classic and unit-linked products. The ARA Pensionskasse AG has been actively operating in the W&W Group since 2002.
The Württembergische Versicherung AG, the Württembergische Lebensversicherung AG, the Württembergische Krankenversicherung AG and the Karlsruher Lebensversicherung AG together with the ARA Pensionskasse AG form the Württembergische Insurance Group.

The Karlsruher Lebensversicherung AG dates back to the „Allgemeine Versorgungsanstalt im Großherzogthum Baden“ (General Pension Institution of the Grand-Duchy of Baden) founded in 1835. The Karlsruher Lebensversicherung AG has been part of the Wüstenrot & Württembergische Group since a merger with the Württembergische Insurance Company in October 2005.
The Württembergische Versicherung AG, the Württembergische Lebensversicherung AG, the Württembergische Krankenversicherung AG and the ARA Pensionskasse AG together with the Karlsruher Lebensversicherung AG form the Württembergische Insurance Group.

The Württembergische Vertriebspartner (Sales Service) GmbH has been active on the insurance market since 2007 on behalf of the Württembergische Lebensversicherung AG. The company offers independent insurance sales agents a complete range of products in the field of personal and composite insurance to include innovative bundled products, professional sales support and highly efficient web portals for online business processing.
The Wüstenrot Immobilien GmbH was founded in 1991 and is the company within the Wüstenrot & Württembergische-Group responsible for real estate. In the year 2000 the Wüstenrot Immobilien GmbH and the Leoberger Immobilien GmbH merged. The company’s estate agents are active in the business fields of real estate sales, real estate brokerage and sales activities. The sales agents work closely together with external sales partners from Wüstenrot and Württembergische in matters relating to home loans, insurance policies and financial investment.
The Wüstenrot Haus- und Städtebau GmbH is the real estate expert of the Wüstenrot & Württembergische Group, specialising in urban construction, residential construction and property management. The company was created after a merger between the Hausbau Wüstenrot GmbH founded in 1949 and the Wüstenrot Städtebau and Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH, founded in 1971. Since its founding, the Wüstenrot Haus- und Städtebau GmbH has built more than 23,000 houses and apartments all over Germany and currently carries out the property managmeent of some 14,000 residential and commercial units.
The W&W Asset Management GmbH was founded in 2000. The company is responsible for the controlling and bundling of the investment and share activities of the shareholders of the Wüstenrot & Württembergische Group. The company also manages the investment funds of private and institutional asset holders. The sales and administration of investment certificates to private shareholders is carried out by the sales organisations of the Wüstenrot Bausparkasse and the Württembergische Versicherung.
The W&W Informatik GmbH (W&W IT) is the central provider of IT services of the Wüstenrot & Württembergische Group. The company develops and operates all IT applications with the W&W Group. The company is responsible for all networks, decentralized systems, architectures and computer centers. W&W Informatik GmbH was founded in 2002 when the IT departments of the group’s companies were merged.
The W&W Produktion GmbH is a processing company of the Wüstenrot and Württembergische Group and opened for business in Berlin in 2011. The company supports various companies in the W&W Group in processing procedures and ensures a prompt and needs-based customer service.
The W&W Service GmbH (WWS) is the central service provider of the Wüstenrot and Württembergische Group and began business in 2009. The company is responsible for documentation, data and printing services; purchasing and automotive mobility services; building maintenance and event management and corporate catering.
